The Archetype that inspires excellency – The Hunter

I’ve been creative most of my life, but I have wasted so much time fiddling around.

In my 20’s, I lived in community homes, spent all day making art, and was obsessed with my music career. Looking back, I realized why I wasn’t successful. I didn’t have a clear vision.

Working with archetypes helped me see this, and specifically the Hunter Archetype.

I have always seen myself as an artist and wizard. I seek after my craft and love to explore the meaning of life through creativity. These qualities got me pretty far, but something was missing.

I never went that extra 10%

I would always stop at “good enough.” I felt like creativity was enough… but there is so much more involved. I was able to unravel that by looking at the Hunter Archetype.

The Hunter is an expression of the Masculine Archetype of the Warrior. For me, the Hunter represents a honing of skills. “The Hunter uses focus and patience to achieve his goals. He waits until all the details line up to allow him the greatest chance of success. He is one with the cycles of the moon, the wind, and the season. He leaves as little to chance as possible by preparing and adjusting to the world around him.”

I realized working with this archetype is I would make music… art… or whatever and throw it in the wind. I wasn’t taking the time to consider the larger cycles of culture, how to best share the message and the regular dedication.

The Hunter helped me realize I needed a piercing vision.

Like… why was I making art? What was I trying to do, and how could I find the most powerful way of sharing its message.

This changed everything for me.

I cast aside the shotgun approach of my youth. My goal was to impact people and help them expand what they thought was possible. That edict found its way into my music, art, and writing. I found a new inspiration to go that extra 10%. Taking on the energy of the Hunter has brought bounty and precision.

I can now see how the Hunter’s energy affects my relationships, business, and other aspects of my life.

Here are three questions you can ask yourself to connect to the Hunter Archetype:

  • What preparations can you make beforehand to lead to success?
  • What actions can you practice until there automatically?
  • What would help you find the determination and patients to reach your goal?

If you can, take a moment in the next few days to contemplate this archetype and how it might be showing up in your life.

I’d love to hear your experiences with the Warrior and Hunter Archetypes. Add your comment below. I would love to talk about it.
